Safety and Security

Residents of Ward 28 need to feel safe & secure everywhere. People are feeling unsafe in their own neighbourhoods and families are leaving the area.

  • Implement better communication on neighbourhood crime problems and what is being done to fix them.
  • Work to broaden and strengthen relationships among low income communities and 51 Division police
  • Continue expanding Safe Streets – Stronger Communities organization ensuring the police and courts are responsive to our needs.
  • Develop a ward level “Safe Neighbourhoods” volunteer organization to coordinate crime prevention in all our neighbourhoods (graffiti, broken street lights and aggressive panhandling)
